About CareCoach

CareCoach is a programme of research that aims to improve support for family and friends caring for a person living with dementia.

CareCoach is based on an online support programme originally developed in the Netherlands, called Partner in Balance. Working alongside carers, healthcare professionals and public contributors, we have adapted the programme for use in the UK.

The CareCoach programme combines online resources with one-to-one support from a trained coach to help carers develop knowledge, skills and confidence in their caring role.

Our research aims to:

  • Adapt CareCoach for use in UK health and care settings.
  • Understand how CareCoach can be delivered within the UK.
  • Evaluate whether CareCoach improves outcomes for carers of people living with dementia.
  • Explore how CareCoach can be implemented more widely across the UK if shown to be effective.

Through this research, we hope to improve access to evidence-based support for carers.
